Suspension of Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya (MPP) Reference Services

The Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya (MPP) building has been damaged by the April 25 Earthquake. Engineers have deemed the building unsafe and recommended immediate evacuation. Therefore, we regret to inform that reference services of the archive have been suspended until further notice.

Mr Amar Gurung, Chief of MPP said, “We are deeply saddened that for the first time in its history MPP has had to suspend its services. However, we are committed to resume services from an alternative location as soon as possible.”

Established in 1955 as a non-profit-making institution, MPP is the largest repository of Nepali-language materials in the world and has been home to more than 35,000 books, 50,000 rare photographs, 15,000 ephemera, over 10,000 manuscripts as well as audio and audiovisuals related to Nepal.
